Seth Gitner

is an assistant professor in both the Newspaper & Online Journalism and the Multimedia Photography & Design departments at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. He is a former multimedia editor and multimedia photojournalist at the Roanoke Times and in Roanoke, VA. His work in multimedia journalism has won numerous awards, including Documentary of the Year from Pictures of the Year International and the Scripps Howard Foundation Web Reporting Award. A well known volunteer for the National Press Photographers Association he is a recipient of a President’s Award, The Joseph Costa Award for oustanding, initiative, leadership and service and the Robin F. Garland Award which recognizes outstanding service as a photojournalism educator. He writes a monthly column on multimedia storytelling for the association's monthly magazine, News Photographer.
